History

Founded in 1988, Summum Granit has carved out an enviable place for itself in the North American granite industry. The firm specializes in kitchen countertops, bathroom vanities, fireplace mantles, tub decks, and other decorative elements in granite used in interior design in homes and businesses.

At first Summum Granit had five employees—including owners Lucille Paradis and Rock Bernier—and operated out of a 4,000-square-foot plant and office. Slowly but surely it made a name for itself. Demand grew steadily and in 1997, the company added a second shift at the plant and 18 permanent employees. The following year, Summum Granit underwent a series of expansions in order to meet the rising demand and offer its clientele quality products and service worthy of the SUMMUM name.

  • Spring 1998: The plant was enlarged by 5,000 square feet, and six jobs were created.
  • Fall 1998: 1,250 square feet of office space was added.
  • Spring 1999: The plant was expanded by 7,250 square feet, and six jobs were created.;
  • Summer 2000: An additional 3,000 square feet was added to the plant. Five jobs were created.
  • Summer 2001: Another plant expansion—12,000 square feet of space and 14 new jobs.
  • Winter 2001–2002: Office space was increased by 5,000 square feet.
